Who are the Eastern Lions Kart Club?

About Us

Eastern Lions Kart Club (ELKC) is one of Victoria’s leading karting clubs, proudly delivering grassroots motorsport since its establishment in 1961.

Located at the Hume International Raceway in Hilldene, known by its members as Pukka. ELKC provides a high-quality racing facility where drivers of all ages and experience levels can develop their skills and compete in an exciting, safe environment.

At Eastern Lions Kart Club, karting is more than just racing, it’s about community. Our club brings together families, volunteers, and motorsport enthusiasts who share a passion for speed, teamwork, and personal growth. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where drivers can learn, build confidence, and enjoy the sport.

ELKC host a full calendar of race meetings, practice days, and major events, providing opportunities for members to compete at club, state, and national levels. Karting is widely recognised as first step in a motorsport career, and ELKC is proud to support that journey, with alumni progressing to professional racing both in Australia and internationally.

As a volunteer-driven organisation, our success is built on the dedication of our members and officials. Whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced competitor, the Eastern Lions Kart Club offers a place to belong, grow, and race.

Established in 1961 and the original track was located at Humevale near Whittlesea. Currently the membership consists of approximately 160 karters and their families predominantly from the northern and northeastern suburbs of Melbourne. We also have a growing regional membership. Eastern Lions Kart Club is incorporated and is governed by a committee of volunteer club members.

The previous site at Whittlesea was outgrown in terms of track and surroundings. The need to move to a bigger location and longer track became apparent in 1989, and a number of sites were evaluated. The opportunity to purchase 72 acres of land at Puckapunyal was ideal for the club's future requirements. The size of the land, zoning, proximity to facilities in Seymour and it's geographical location in Victoria all made the location an excellent venue for a kart track.
